Laxius Power: Random Story Walkthrough

Part II.B - Chanterless Maze

After finishing the Werewolf Quest, you can go talk to everyone in Rillia and Chanterless again, and if you talk to everyone in the Chanterless Town Hall, you will find out that someone lost a blue pearl in the Forest Maze north of town.  The maze is your next area, so you might as well pick up the Blue Pearl Quest while you're at it.  As you can see from the map, the Chanterless Forest Maze is HUGE.  It took me forever, but I think I checked every tree and every path in the maze looking for hidden items, and as you can see I found a LOT.  If anyone found anything that I missed, please let me know.  You'll notice I have marked the shortest, safest path to the exit in Yellow.  I've also marked the shortest, safest path from the beginning of the maze to the Teleport Fairy Trainee in Yellow and Red.  You'll need to keep trying the Teleport Fairy Trainee over and over to make it to the island where the Blue Pearl is.  By the time I got here, the monsters in the maze were no problem at all, however, the sheer number of fights you will have to face before you make it out is cause enough to bring plenty of healing stuff with you.  You can buy MP Reserves from the salesman in here, but really you shouldn't need much of that if you pay attention to the map, or, simply make it through the maze as quickly as possible, then buy Fairy Sugars and Fairy Peppers in Mizabrandeau.  All in all, the maze isn't that tough, but it will prepare you for the harder areas of the game to come.  If you think the forest maze is tough, just wait until you reach the Tangar Mountains:)

Ok, here goes the usual run down of Map Locations:

Location A: The maze is full of these spots.  "As you walk on some wet grass..."...the grass on these spots is poisoned, so make sure you carry a lot of Antidotes with you, so you don't waste Sarah's MP on casting Antidote spells over and over.  I think I found all of the poisoned grass spots, and most of them can be avoided, but some can not, like the one on the path to the exit.
Location B:
This treasure chest contains a Lady Bow.  Notice that in order to get the Bow, you'll have to pass the poisoned grass twice.
Location C:
This is Torahl the Great Wyrm.  If you talk to the nearby fairy, she will ask you if you are lost.  If you answer yes she informs you NOT to ask the Great Wyrm, or he may eat you.  But what the hell, go ahead and ask him:)  If you beat him, you'll gain a LOT of gp, and the stairs he is guarding lead down to his lair, where you will find more gold, a Gudar Sword, an Omanite Robe, and an Ajax Ring.  Total gp gained: 43,000!
Location D:
This treasure chest holds a Flare Hat.
Location E:
This treasure chest holds a Drunkard Hat for Coryool.
Location F:
If you read the nearby sign for this treasure chest, it asks you if you will waste time and energy trying to get to it, and it isn't joking.  Every corner of the little spiral leading to this chest is an ambush of spiders, and when you finally do get there, all you get is 1 gp!  Not only that but you have to fight the same spiders on the way back out!  LOL.
Location G:
This is the Teleport Fairy Trainee.  She will attempt to teleport you to the maze exit, and sometimes she will succeed, but most of the time, she won't.  Her failure isn't all bad though.  If you notice on the map I've noted 5 different spots she can teleport you to, including near the maze exit and near the Blue Pearl.
Location H:
Here is another patch of poisoned grass.  Don't forget to use those Antidotes!
Location I:
This fairy will offer to protect you from attack across the wooden bridge for a 300 gp toll.  Don't bother with it, it isn't worth the money and most times you can make it across this bridge without incident.
Location J:
Searching these trees you discover that they are alive!  4 Giant Oaks will attack and when they die, you'll find 8,000 gp, an Oak Bow, and a Chantefleur Hat.
Location K:
The first time you step on this bridge EVERY time you enter the forest maze, you will be ambushed by 2 Ocean Buzzers and 3 Lizardmen.  At my levels, they proved to be no problem at all.
Location L:
This salesman will sell you antidotes, MP Revivals, and other healing goods.
Location M:
It seems someone has gotten to this treasure chest before you, because it is empty.
Location N:
  More poisoned grass.
Location O:
Yveen has left you another save point.  How gracious:)
Location P:
In this treasure chest you will find the a-MAZE-ing Rapier, which is a good weapon for Sarah.
Location Q:
More poisoned grass, are you seeing a trend here?
Location R:
When this Fairy asks you if you are lost, say Yes, and she will restore everyone's MP to full! :)
Location S:
The trend continues, more poisoned grass.
Location T:
This fake tree is the reason most people can not find their way out of the maze.  Although a bit late, when you walk through it, Luciana calmly tells you "This tree is an illusion"...thanks for telling us NOW! :)
Location U:
  Poisoned grass, again!!
Location V:
Well, if you braved the poisoned grass at location U, good for you, because in this treasure chest is the Dado Axe.
Location W:
This treasure chest holds the Fairy Lakes Tunic.
Location X:
Will the poisoned grass never end?
Location Y:
Inside this treasure chest are 3 Fairy Sugars.
Location Z:
Sometimes the Teleport Fairy Trainee will teleport you onto this island, and the only way off is to Egress (I usually buy a lot of Egress Certificates to save MP, but Egress only costs 1 MP so that's up to you.)  If you're trying to get the Blue Pearl, follow my yellow and red lines to get back to the Fairy quicker after using Egress.
Location 0:
Careful going back to the fairy from this Teleport Spot, as the most direct route to her leads through a patch of poisoned grass!
Location 1:
If you've already gotten most of the stuff in the maze, my suggestion is to use Egress from here and go back to the Teleport Fairy from there.
Location 2:
Finally, the Fairy accidently teleports you to this island where you can finish that damn Blue Pearl Quest.
Location 3:
This is the Blue Pearl that someone lost in the Maze.  Take it back to the guy at the Chanterless Town Hall and get your reward.
Location 4:
This fairy will Teleport you back to the beginning of the maze, saving you one use of Egress.
Location 5:
At last the Teleport Fairy gets it right and teleports you to the end of the maze.  Too bad if you didn't notice the fake tree, you think you're stuck again:)
Location 6:
This treasure chest holds a Nenuphar Ring.

Once you're done exploring and ready to exit the maze, just follow the yellow line all the way to the exit, and you'll find yourself in the Fairy Town of Mizabrandeau, where you can save your game, rest, and even pick up two more side quests....
